Everything you need to know to get started with TookBot.

Getting started

What is TookBot?
TookBot is an all-in-one Discord bot: XP and levelling system, moderation + TookBot+ automod, temporary voice channels, multi-source music (YouTube, SoundCloud, Spotify, Bandcamp), lightsaber duels, giveaways, tickets, reaction roles, social alerts, mini-games, conversational AI with vision and TTS, server analytics, and a full web dashboard to configure it all. More than 130 slash commands.
How do I add TookBot to my server?
Click the Invite button at the top of the page, pick your server, and approve the permissions. Once it is added, type /setup to configure the basic channels (welcome, logs, alerts, admin).
Is TookBot free?
Yes. Every core feature is free, with no paywall on the essentials. Premium options exist to support the project, but the bot stays fully usable for free. You can also buy us a coffee to help cover hosting costs.
How do I see the list of commands?
Type /commands in any channel. Discord also has autocomplete: type / and select TookBot to see every available command.

Features

How does the XP system work?
Members earn XP by chatting. The more active they are, the faster they level up. Type /level to see your progress card. You can tune the XP gain and the anti-spam cooldown from the dashboard.
Can the bot play music?
Yes. TookBot plays from YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp and Spotify (tracks, albums and playlists). Main commands: /play, /search, /queue, /nowplaying, /skip, /remove, /volume, /pause, /resume, /musicstats. For Spotify, tracks are resolved to their YouTube equivalent (a public API limitation).
What is TookBot's audio quality?
TookBot streams through yt-dlp + ffmpeg, picking the best available audio source (typically Opus 128-160 kbps from YouTube), then re-encodes for Discord. The bot runs on a dedicated VPS in Germany (Hetzner) with a Cloudflare WARP proxy to get around YouTube anti-bot blocks. No dropouts, automatic reconnection if the connection drops, and the queue resumes on its own after a restart.
Why is there no direct Spotify integration?
Spotify does not allow the public API to stream audio (DRM). Like almost every Discord music bot, TookBot reads Spotify metadata (titles, artists) then finds the YouTube equivalent. Paste a Spotify track / album / playlist link into /play and the rest is seamless.
What moderation tools are available?
Warnings, notes, kicks, bans, timeouts, detailed logs, and a configurable moderator permission system. You can grant a moderator role access to specific functions without handing out Discord admin rights.
What are tickets and reaction roles?
Tickets: a panel where members open a private channel to reach the staff (with transcripts). Reaction roles: a message where members click (a reaction or a button) to give themselves a role. Both configurable through /ticket and /rolereaction or the dashboard.

Dashboard & config

How do I access the web dashboard?
Go to dashboard.tookbot.click and sign in with Discord. From there you configure XP, the welcome message, features, moderator permissions and much more, without typing a single command.
How do I enable or disable a feature?
On the dashboard, in the Features page: one on/off switch per function, specific to each server. If a member uses a disabled command, they get a quiet notice.
Is my data safe?
TookBot only stores what it strictly needs to work (XP, server config). Read the privacy policy for the details.

Support & help

How can I support the project?
TookBot is developed solo and runs on a server paid for out of my own pocket. If the bot makes your server livelier, you can buy me a coffee on Ko-fi. Every donation helps keep the bot online 24/7 and fund new features.
I found a bug or have a question, where do I ask?
